Championship Event
$3300 + $200 NL
On the last hand before break, there's a loud outburst from table 4 as the room is clearing out. "Boom! Boom! Yow, yeah. Boom!" The casualty is Dwyte Pilgrim, who walks out with style and grace.
"I guess it's a big thing to knock me out," says the player who won three WSOP rings in 2009 and finished second in the 6 max tournament two days ago. "The sad thing is, I was only a 40% underdog going to the river."
There's three to a flop and the board is Q 9 2 with one diamond. The turn is the 6♦, Pilgrim slams 22k all in and Stephen Reynolds makes the call.
Pilgrim tables a flush draw with 10♦ 4 ♦, while Stevens, who refused to give his name, shows bottom pair with K 2.
As the board bricks, the over zealous celebration begins and Pilgrim is eliminated.
There's now less than one hour of play before the remaining players bag and tag.
