Michael Pizzarella (Worcester, MA) got his last 13k all-in, getting action from Andrew Kloc, who held A5. Michael's pocket Queens were ahead, but not too comfortable. It was over quickly as the flop came Q Q 3 giving Michael quadzilla and the double-up.
Soon after, Michael was all-in pre-flop again, this time with 42,900. He got called by seat 3, who tabled pocket 7s. Michael held pocket Jacks and was ahead, again, but this time the flop came 7 6 6 giving his opponent the full house.
When you're running good, however, you're running good. The turn delivered a Jack, giving Michael a better full house and when a Queen fell on the river, Michael doubled up again. Seat 2 claims he folded a Jack, so that turn card was a one-outer for Michael.
David Fox's comeback was short-lived, however. Following a raising war, he was all-in pre-flop holding pocket Jacks against a player holding pocket Queens. The Queens held up and David exited this event in 33rd place.
32 players remain...just 5 away from the money.

Event 11: 35 Players Remain
$1,000 + $90 NL
Level 12 ticked away and the final 35 players took off for ten away from the felt.
It is quite clear that Sam Eliacin is still the chip leader with ~268k. No one else has crested the 200k mark.
Tables have changed to nine-handed and four tables remain. Just eight more players to go to reach the dough.

Event 11: Sick Fades for Fox
$1,000 + $90 NL
After a raising war, David Fox (Coram, NY) was all-in against the player on his right. David's pocket 9s were ahead of the K♦9♣ he was facing, but the flop came J♣8♣4♣ giving his opponent a club flush draw to go with the Kings for outs. Turn was the Q♦, adding a gutshot straight draw and four more outs for his opponent. Fox had to fade 14 outs on the river -- and did. It was the J♦. "Nice Fade" said Lippy.
Soon after, David was all-in again with pocket Tens. This time he was well ahead of the pocket 3s of his opponent. The flop came J 5 4 and clean for David. Turn was a 3, however, giving his opponent an open-ender and 8 outs. River was a Jack, however, and David doubled up again. Another nice fade for the Fox. He's now up to ~80k.

Event 11: Kloc Makes the Hero Call
$1,000 + $90 NL
On the river with a board of A♦9♣7♥K♦3♦, seat 1 (sb) bet 21k. Andrew Kloc (Naugatuck, CT) tanked for a few minutes. He counted out the call, counted out his remaining chips, and continued to cogitate. He finally tossed the chips in the pot. He opponent was reluctant to show his hand. Andrew rolled over pocket 4s and seat 1 mucked.
All he could beat was a bluff and he somehow figured out that was exactly what his opponent held -- nothing. Nice call, Andrew.
Play continued into Level 12, blinds 1k/2k with 300 antes.

On a flop of A♦K♥T♦, seat 3 (button) moved all-in, putting Mike "Little Man" Sica to the test. Mike gave it some thought, then committed the last of his chips. Seat 3 held K♦6♦ for a pair of Kings with flush draw. Mike was ahead with A♥J♥ for a pair of Aces with a gutshot.
It was over quickly as the 7♦ hit the turn completing the flush. Mike was drawing dead and headed for the door.

Event 11: David Peters Peters Out
$1,000 + $90 NL
Bob Hwang (Barnegat, NJ) opened for 3k utg and got four callers. The flop came J♥6♣4♣ and the small blind checked. "Action Bob" bet 12k, and David Peters of Toledo, OH, (who finished 3rd in the $7,200 event a couple of days ago for $58k) went into the tank for a bit. He eventually opted to raise to 32k straight. The other three players folded and Bob took a few seconds before announcing he was all-in (48k on top). David called quickly, showing T♣8♣ for a flush draw. Bob was ahead with pocket Jacks. The last two peeled off 3♦9♥ and Action Bob doubled up.
After paying off Bob, David was left with only 2,200. 200 went into the ante on the next hand and he moved all-in for 2k. Action folded to Bob, who was now the big blind. He called the extra 800 chips without looking at his cards, which turned out to be 4♦2♣. David held J♣6♣ and was ahead, but clubs have not been good to him. The board came 7♦5♦3♦9♣K♦ giving Bob a flush and the last of David's chips.
End of level 10 and 52 remaining players took off for a ten minute break.

Event 11: 50/50 Time
$1,000 + $90 NL
On a flop of Q 8 7 with two diamonds, seat 8 checked to Al Riccobono in the hijack, who bet 16k. After giving it some thought, seat 8 made the call. Turn was an offsuit 6 and against seat 8 checked. Al moved all-in for 49,500. Seat 8 tanked for a bit, then decided to fold.
Brett Rhode is up to 90k and wanted his son Jordan to know how to find the blog. Jordan, hope you're seeing this!
54 players remain, which means it is 50/50 Time. 50% of the remaining players will get paid and 50% of them will leave with nothing but memories (and bad beat stories, no doubt).

"All-In" followed by "Call" is the repeated cry echoing through the Signature Room. As I run to each table in turn it is usually a race. Pocket Jacks held up against AK. Pocket 9s held up against AQ. Pocket 7s held up against AJ. Pocket Aces held up against AK (okay, that one's not a race).
I just saw AK suited against AK suited -- that one was a split pot.
Nevertheless, another 10 players have exited the tournament in just 25 minutes since the return from dinner break.
60 players remain at 6 tables. Just over 3 million chips in play. Average stack is ~51,500.
Play continues into Level 10, blinds 600/1,200 with 200 antes.

Pool Player Survivor
A $500 by-in Survivor tournament started at 4pm this afternoon and while event 11 is on dinner break, I picked up some info on one of the players in that event.
Allen Hopkins is a professional pocket billiards (pool) player. He has numerous state, national, and world titles since going pro at the age of 17 and now provides commentary for televised tournaments.
Today, Allen is trying his hand at the Survivor tournament where all you have to do is outlast 90% of the field. He has a couple of small cashes in his poker career here at Borgata, so he obviously has some talents that extend to a different kind of felt-covered table.

I toured the Signature Room trying to identify the chip leader. There are currently nine 10-handed tables in action, so fewer than 90 players remain.
Table three is heavily loaded with Natala Kuey, Jeremy McLaughlin, David Peters, and Roland Israel. Table nine is similarly laden with David Fox, Bob Hwang, Vinny Pahuja, and Steven Cho. Mike "Little Man" Sica (~60k) is sharing his patch of felt with Joe Simmons. Joe's up to about 80k.
Al Riccobono is up to about 80k also and he's on table 7 with Steve Dannenmann and Matt Brady (Hey E-Tay! I hear Congrats are in order!!! I saw the baby pictures!!!).
I appears, however, that the current chip leader is Sam Eliacin (New York). He's up to about 120k. The player on his right claims he's a luckbox. I guess time will tell.

Fiederlein says he first started playing mixed games last summer, picking up his first pay day in the September 2009 Poker Open.

James Boyle (Havre de Grace, MD via Scotland) begins the day third in chips, but is crippled early. His last stand is for 32k with A 5 suited vs A 10 off suit.
Boyle is in good shape when the flop is A 5 3, but the turn brings a 10 to end his day, but it's Boyle's second cash of the Spring Open.
"I got unluck," he says, "but it goes both ways." Boyd quickly leaves one table and sits down in the 1k tournament. "I'm a glutton for punishment, but now I'm free rolling."
Tables are now short as they both play 6-handed.

$630 + $70 (NL)
As the money approaches, players are fighting not only to cash, but to be in position to win the tournament. And it won't hurt to have pocket 8s along the way.
First at table 1, Mike Beasley reraise shoves 31k on Keith Crowder who tanks and calls another 22k. Beasley's pocket 8♣ 8♠ hold against Crowder who picks up straight and flush draws with 8♦ 10♦ after the turn, but doesn't connect.
Seconds later at table 2, James Boyle goes in the tank when his opponent 4 bet shoves for 68k more. Boyle chastises himself as time winds down and he can't make a decision. "I'm putting myself on the clock," he says. "I'll make a decision when time runs out."
After another 2 miutes (4-5 total) and the clock hits triple zeros, Boyle makes the call and is relieved to see A♣ K♥ against his 8♠ 8♦. The board runs clean and Boyle delivers the knockout to reduce the field to 21 players.
Boyle now has 220k and is well above the chip average of 113k. "I'm back from the dead," he says, "I had 20k just a little while ago."
We're now three players away from the money and play will stop when 18 players remain, regardless of how long it takes.
Level 15 (2k/4k/400 ante) underway.
