ACES crack ACES

Jeff Benhart (Lutherville, MD) looked down and saw pocket aces staring back. Finally, the mother of all starting hands.

He pushes all his chips in pre-flop. Even though it's Level 1, he gets a call. To Jeff's surprise his opponent also tables aces.

Okay, that's funny but we've all seen this happen once or twice. Chop it up, right?

Flop comes down K
♠Q♠brick. Jeff notices that he has the Ace of spades and three fifths of a royal flush. Turn comes J♠. Sweat starts pouring down his opponent's face.

The river hits. No, Jeff didn't hit the Royal, but an 8♠ still gave him the miracle 1% flush and a 47,000 pot.

The poor kid whose aces got cracked by aces somehow survived the blow and during the next two levels built his stack back up to 10,000.

Alas, when it isn't your day, it isn't your day - his pocket queens got run over by an A-K that exploded into quad kings.
