Jeff Benhart (Luthersville, MD) made the desperation shove from the two-hole, then the player in the three-hole shoved his slightly smaller stack. Action folded to the small blind, who tanked for a couple of minutes. When he decided to call, Jeff said "I knew you had AK when you tanked and knew I was in trouble". Sure enough, the small blind held AK suited and was dominating Jeff's KQ off. The third player was actually ahead with pocket Tens, but would have to fade three overcards.
The board rolled out K♠5♠3♠6♥J♠ and the river card saved Jeff, giving him a spade flush since he held the Q♠. Jeff tripled up on that hand and another player reported to the rail.
Back on table 13, John Myung (Vienna, VA) open-raised from utg+1 only to have seat 6 (button) move all-in, then Roy "The Natural" Gardner (Huntington Station, NY) move all-in from the big blind. John tanked for a couple of minutes, then surrendered. Seat 6 held AJ suited and was in bad shape against Roy's pocket Aces. The board came Q T 9 Q 7 and Roy's Aces were good. "Why didn't you call?" he asked John. "You want me to call?" John said "I call, I win". John apparently folded pocket Tens, which would have resulted in a full house.
There are still 4 tables in the Poker Room and we have three empty tables here in The Signature Room. That makes 26 tables in action with 9 or fewer players each.
