On the final hand Valence holds K 10 vs. Q J on a flop of K 8 J. DiGiovanna shoves all in and Valence tanks before eventually making the call. The board bricks out and Valence's pair of kings takes the title.
"This place is great," says Valence, who earns $33,714. "The structures are phenomenal and I love it here."
Valence points to a pivotal hand he won against Or Hadad, when an 8 on the river gave him a straight for a 700k pot. "That's the spot you have to win to win the tournament," he says.
As for DiGiovanna, he's philosophical about his day. "In tournament play, you use your skill as much as you can to go far," he says after winning $18,799. "But you need some luck to get you this deep in the tournament. It was fun, but it wears on you."
