All in the Family
They didn't have a last longer bet, but Jim and Nancy McLaughlin (Broomall, PA) both expected to go deep in their respective tournaments. The couple's been married 46 years, but Nancy's the only one cashing Sunday as she's one of the remaining 15 players in the Ladies Event.
"She's the only one who's made a final table at one of these," says Jim, referring to any major series of poker events. "And she never lets me forget it."
Jim's day ends in the Seniors event when his flopped flush doesn't hold.
McLaughlin: 3♠ 5♠
Opponent: A♦ Q♠
Flop: K♠ J♠ 10♠ (Opp. flops a straight & an open ended straight flush draw)
Turn: 7♥
River 9♠
Any spade would give McLaughlin's opponent the flush, but adding insult to injury, the river brings a straight flush.
Jim's now rooting on his wife, while planning ahead for Monday's Deep Stack to try and get that elusive final table.
45 players remain in the Seniors event as Level 12 (1k/2k/300 ante) continues.
